Pre-Application and Questions

Prospective students may apply by sending an email to Dr. Wood at jrw@mtu.edu .

Include a brief statement on why you want to attend this particular field camp. Also indicate if you are interested in academic credits or CEUs. Click here for discusssion of differences between CEUs and credits and click here for difference in cost.

You will be notified if you have been accepted within 10 days and given further instructions.

If you have specific questions or need more infromation send an email to Dr. Wood. You will receive a prompt reply.

Formal (Michigan Tech) Application

Once you have received an email from Dr. Wood stating that you have been accepted to the program, select one of the following options:

Credit Option

 Students selecting the credit option must through the MTU application process. This involves two simple steps:

1. Go to:

http://www.admissions.mtu.edu/

select "Future First Years" to get started. Follow the online instruction and register as a "Non-degree seeking student" when given the choice. You should be automatically enrolled (accepted) and receive an email to that effect within a day or two.

2. Once you have received the MTU acceptance, go to

https://www.banweb.mtu.edu/pls/owa/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin

to register. Log in with the ID number MTU admissions just sent you . Click "Student Services" then select "Registration", then "Add/Drop Classes". Register for the course with CRN number 52176 for the 5-credit course.(There is a CRN number 52177 for the additional 1-credit course on Reef geology if you are taking that.) I need to notify the department administrator that you are cleared to register. Her name is Kelly McLean and her email is kelly@mtu.edu  if you have questions about registration.

CEU Option

Students electing the CEU option need to declare that to the course instructor (Dr. Wood). He will advise you individually where to send your checks.
